Obituary for Ron Morrison

Amidst the sadness and broken hearts, the wonderful man which we were privileged and fortunate to call Ron has left his earthly home to journey to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 11th in the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 76. Ron was born on June 7, 1941, son of the late Merle and Lillian (Taylor) Morrison.

Left with treasured memories his loved and devoted wife of 54 years Shirley (Fowlie) Morrison, his two sons Kevin (Gill) of Moncton and David of Sussex, four precious granddaughters Nicole, Abbie, Taylor, and Kelsey. Much loved and respected brother to Dennis (Judy), Brent, Debbie and sister in–law Doris Tozer. Uncle to two nieces, Amy (Tim) and Sandra (Nelson) and two nephews Mark and Edward (Franceline) and great-uncle to Brandon , Tye, Karlea, Lydia, Jody, and Bradley. Aunts Joyce Taylor, Stella Gilliss, Rita Gilliss and many cousins.

Gone to join his family members, son Brian (1996), father Merle (2002), mother Lillian (2017), infant brother Dale (1948), brothers in–laws Jack Tozer (2015) and John Moir (2017).

We can only hope that with Ron’s passing comes a spiritual reunion with his son Brian who sadly preceded him, resulting in a pain that resided in Ron’s heart throughout his remaining life. May they both rest in peace together.

Ron a humble man and true gentleman, always smiled and put others before himself. His priorities were family, work and the great Miramichi community. Owner of Tozer Insurance, a business he was so proud of and enjoyed for 51 years on Water St., Chatham. Throughout his life, Ron actively volunteered his time serving and working with so many organizations for the betterment of the community. An active member of St. Andrew’s United Church he served as an elder, steward, and trustee. Charter member and past president of the Chatham Rotary Club, and Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, former Councillor in the town of Chatham, served on the board of Protestant Orphanage Home, also served on Miramichi Airport Commission, Past President of Miramichi Retirement Inc. (serving on the board for twenty years), President of Chatham Seniors and Handicapped Inc.
